Mountain Goat Hunts in Northern BC

Five stone Outfitting truly has one of the most goat rich area’s in the mainland. Our goat hunters are usually 100% (weather pending). The population in this area is very good and the size and age of our goats are great. Our average goat is between 9” & 9 ½”. If a hunter is willing to hike the mountains a few extra times and be fussy you will have an excellent chance at a 10” or better goat. Lots of 10”+ goats have come from this area, one even scoring 54”. Most of our old goats die of old age in this area because of the vastness of the area and limited amount of hunters we choose to take.

Our season runs from Aug 15 – Oct 15. Earlier in the season Goats tend to be more accessible and the weather is usually more stable allowing us to harvest those bigger Billie’s. In saying that, the hair is shorter. Half way thru the season their hair will be longer and the later you wait to hunt these cliff hangers the more magnificent their hair gets.

 

Goat hunting is physical and the better the shape you are in the more enjoyable your hunt will be. These hunts may be assisted by horseback to travel during the days and gain some elevation. Getting up to them though is leg work. We have straight backpack hunts that will offer you a chance at some of our extremely remote area’s that have not been hunted in a long…long time. Hunts are 7 or 10 days of hunting. We offer 1x1 hunts and some 2x1 hunts. The large number of goats we have allows us to do this.

Additional animals may be harvested - Grizzly, Moose, Black Bear and wolf if desired. Trophy fees will apply, harvest fee on wolf included in hunt price.
